It’s your turn to write the rules – Learn how is EU policy made with our brand-new tools

27/03/2026

EU rules and regulations can sometimes seem distant and vague, but they actually have a profound impact on our lives in Europe. So what is EU policy, and how is it made? And most importantly, how can you influence policymaking on the issues that matter to you? We created two tools to help you navigate in the complex world of EU policymaking.

A crash course on EU policymaking

The first tool is an interactive website that takes you through the key steps in the creation of EU-level rules and regulations. We recommend visiting this site if you would like to understand the basic concepts and vocabulary of policymaking, find out more about the processes behind EU legislation, or learn about the key stakeholders involved in these processes. You will also find examples of why EU policy matters and, most importantly, how you can contribute to making the rules of our continent-wide community.

Policyfinder

The second tool is there to help you finding EU policy on the issues that matters to you. Together with the Young Friends of the Earth Europe (YFoEE) network, we have compiled a list of the most pressing issues that the EU is addressing through policy. For each issue, we have collected relevant policy areas, legislation, and information on stakeholders to give you a starting point for participating in the policy cycle. If you want to start taking meaningful action right away, under each topic you will find a direct link of the relevant YFoEE working group waiting to welcome you!

Find both tools and more on the site of the Youth Policy Academy.
