Food without waste: reCAP picnic in Vienna

25/10/2012

Last saturday 20th October, Young Friends of the Earth Austria organised an indoor picknick lunch in Vienna. Everyone who came along brought with them one thing to eat, but without packaging. People brought along with them fresh fruit and vegetables from a farmer’s market, home-baked bread and homemade jam made bakery, homemade jam (recycable packings like glas was allowed!)) so that – in the end – there was no waste left from their  picknick. Consumption without waste!

On this occasion we also announced that we decided to only buy organic and vegan food for our future YFoE Austria group meetings or when we cook together. Also we are planing to have our own little vegetable field starting in spring to set a statement: Youth is willing to work for a greener, organic future!

We made a press release about these activities, which meant the picninc then got covered in a local newspaper!

More pictures appear on the Young Friends of the Earth Europe reCAP photo gallery.
