Today is the official start of Young Friends of the Earth Europe’s reCAP campaign, calling for 50 days of action for fair and sustainable farming.
Counting down from today and for the next 50 days, we’ll be organising 50 actions and educational activities showing young people’s demands and visions for better food and farming, as part of our reCAP campaign.
Young Friends of the Earth activists from Belgium, the Nethelands, the UK, Croatia and Cyprus were in Brussels today demonstating with farmers and citizens as part of the Good Food March. Together with our own hand-made reCAP banners we marched through the streets of Brussels and ended up at the ‘Good Food Brunch’, where we ate a delicious, local, organic and seasonal hot meal, and listened to speakers and music, calling for a reform and a rethink to the way food is produced in Europe.
Activists in Germany also kick-started their reCAP campaign today, with great pictures of themselves dressed up as cows demanding food and agriculture reform. BUNDjugend (YFoE Germany) are organising a series of actions and will be collecting thousands of posters to deliver to their Minister of Agriculture as part of the Young Friends of the Earth Europe reCAP campaign.
In solidarity with campaigners and farmers in Brussels who marched to Brussels, actions will be taking place all around Europe over the next 50 days. Actions are already planned and being carried out in Cyprus, Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Spain. Check out our actions map to follow and find out more about what will be going on as part of reCAP.
There’s still plenty of time to get involved in reCAP yourself, so please make sure to download our action pack and get in touch if you want to take action for a change in the way that our food is produced.
Here are some first photos of reCAP at the Good Food March.
