Young Europeans’ seminar: “Climate Justice – more than words”

By Ruth Gassauer,

YFoE Germany

BUNDjugend and Young Friends of the Earth Europe are organising an international seminar for young climate activists, called “Climate Justice – more than words”. It takes place in Bonn from June 10th to 8th, parallel to the UN intersessionals. We will meet for 8 days full of discussion, exchange, skilll-sharing, networking and ACTION! FoEE will have a side-event during the intersessional conference in Bonn, on Wednesday June, 15th from 6.15-7.45 pm under the title: “Moving the EU – moving the world: Youth led campaigns for climate justice”.

With this seminar, we want to motivate ourselves, more young people, as well as local and EU politicians to stand up for climate justice. So we will ask experts for input and hear testimonies from affected regions. We will exchange our views with decision-makers at the conference and on the local and EU-level. We plan to take action at the conference and also in the follow-up at the European Council on Energy and Climate, to draw attention to the COP 17 summit in Durban/South Africa in December. At present there are no places left for participants inside the Bonn conference, but anyone interested is welcome to join us for workshops and discussions at Jugendakademie Walberberg or action in Bonn.

Please contact Ruth (ruth.gassauer@bundjugend.de) or Björn (bjoern.obmann@bundjugend.de).
