In 2010, Nature & Youth Norway (Natur og Ungdom NU) is working against the oil industry that wants to drill for oil in the areas outside Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja (LoVeSe). Whats the problem? The oil industry alone is responsible for 30% of Norway’s emissions. In addition, the areas outside LoVeSe is one of the richest nature-areas in Norway, with many important fish stocks and large bird colonies that is specially vulnerable to external influence like oil spills. Natur og Ungdom (NU) is working to get LoVeSe marked as an oil free area.
