Come to Paris for the COP21

NOAH Friends of the Earth Denmark, warming up for COP21

13/10/2015

Unfortunately Young Friends of the Earth Europe will not be able to provide financial support for YFoEE activists travelling to Paris, or help pay for accomodation during the COP21. However, below is some practical information on how to travel to Paris in a cheap, environmentally-friendly way, and options for lower-cost accomodation.

How to travel to Paris

Let’s travel together if possible and get to know each other on the journey to Paris. Member groups close to each other are invited to share their plans, organize their travel together (e.g. sharing buses), and go the final leg of the journey to Paris in shared transport.

Friends of the Earth France is organizing climate trains from major cities of France. Some of them are on the border of neighboring countries. This is a perfect opportunity to meet up in France on the way to Paris – on local buses, long distance buses, or on climate trains.

Be creative about how to get to Paris. Explore options like:

  • Cycling. Groups are planning to travel by bike from Germany and Belgium for example.
  • Hitchhiking. FoE Bulgaria will have a team of “Climate Ambassadors” crossing Europe by hitchhiking.
  • Carsharing
  • Taking the boat

Where to stay in Paris

One option for accomodation is with the ‘Human Hotel‘. This a platform which can organize individual accommodation in people’s homes in Paris for our participants. This is a complementary solution to collective spaces and a perfect opportunity to meet Parisian people and share the experience of daily city life. The Human Hotel webpage is live and is waiting to be used!

Human Hotel matches the profiles of hosts and guests according to their interests and needs. We are trying to arrange for hosts to be close together in the city so that members of the same national group stay in one area. This will make it easier to meet up and share a common experience.

If you would like accommodation in Paris with Human Hotel please register as soon as possible.
