At the occasion of the inaction of the authorities in taking drastic and immediate measures to combat the climate crisis, Young Friends of the Earth (YFoE) Cyprus carried out a symbolic action.
Activists of YFoE Cyprus hung banners on monuments located in central locations of Limassol. The hung banners contained slogans against the inaction of the officials towards the climate crisis, but also events that are consequences of it.
In 2018, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change – IPCC issued a comprehensive report on Climate Change. Simply put, the United Nations scientific body clearly explains that we have about a decade to limit the increase in the average temperature of the earth to 1.5 degrees Celsius with a probability of 66%. On November 28th, 2019, the European Parliament declared a “climate emergency” in Europe. When will the Cypriot Government take actions on the event of a climate crisis?
