The future is rural

30/10/2019 Growing Together

Young Friends of the Earth Ireland hosted the ‘Future is Rural’ fair in the West of Ireland. It was a fun and family-friendly event, showcasing change-makers and innovators in sustainable food, farming and power.

The event launched with a screening of ‘In Our Hands – Seeding Change’ and a panel discussion on the Friday night. The Saturday offered a range of interactive family workshops throughout the day. Attendees learned how to save seeds with Irish Seed Savers; explored soil health; heard about growing in small spaces with The Salad Bowl Project; talked about at zero waste with PAX; attended a slow food forage walk, and saw a biodigester in action!

In the Museum’s AV Theatre, there was a selection of short films throughout the day on themes of sustainable food and farming, followed by discussions on how to eat better for people, place, and planet.

This event was part of the Good Food Good Farming European Days of Action.
