Sustainable city tours in Denmark

08/03/2020 Growing Together

Ungdom NOAH/Young Friends of the Earth Denmark continued their series of food sovereignty road trips with four Sustainable City Tours across the country.

How do we teach young adults about food sovereignty during the long Danish autumn and winter? How do we talk about food and supplies with short production chains when all food in winter is shipped in from far away?

The tours set out to answer some of these questions by asking young people in each city: who really feeds us? They examine the food chain of both conventional big scale farming and regenerative, small scale farming. They have been breaking through long-lived myths about the food system and present the young audience with new and more resource-conscious ways to create food for everyone.

The four trips undertaken so far have been done in collaboration with schools all over Denmark, with a further six on hold due to the coronavirus.
