Calling for an end to corporate involvement in climate talks (c) YFoEE

Our network grows bigger!

23/03/2015

Since the New Year, YFoEE has welcomed new local groups from France and the Czech Republic. A whole year of preparations is upon them, as both youth groups will mainly focus and energise themselves for the COP 21 conference in Paris in December 2015.

Jeunes Amis de la Terre (YFoEE France) kickstarted this year with the release of a funny clip for divestment on Valentine’s Day (see below) and an action to show solidarity with Philippines Climate Justice Movement. Many more actions are already planned in the month ahead and preperations for the YFoEE summer camp, which will be held in France coming July, have already started. All their work is building up to this major event: the COP21 climate conference in Paris in December this year. The group sees it as a great opportunity to energise the local climate movement, and aim to use the year ahead to organise creative actions and train young people in the run up to the conference. You can follow their activities on Twitter and Facebook.

Meanwhile, in the Czech Republic, volunteers of Hnutí DUHA (Friends of the Earth Czech Republic) are setting up a new youth group to give new life to the Czech climate movement. Their aim is to organise vibrant campaigns to set Czech Republic on the way towards energy transformation in public hands, especially in the run up to the COP21 climate conference. The youth group, organised around Prague and Brno, two of the largest cities in the country, is now developing internal structures to get extra youth involved in existing campaigns. YFoEE Czech Republic is looking forward to work with their European colleagues and pushing for an social-ecological transformation, which will benefit the many, rather than the few.
