From Norway to Scotland, activists are putting more and more pressure on institutions such as universities to stop investing in fossil fuels. The momentum is here and we need to seize it.
Young Friends of the Earth Europe is supporting the Global Divestment Day on February 13 and 14 and inviting you to join in – let’s challenge the fossil fuel industry!
It’s going to be the first global moment of the divestment movement, which is continuing to weaken the power of the fossil fuel industry, and helping to break the climate deadlock and build the solutions the world needs.
How can you get involved?
Here are some ideas on how to join if you are in Europe, and you can also check out this website for more information on how to organise an event or join one that’s going to take place close to your home.
• release a report or other newsworthy item that reinforces the divestment message
• join an activity being organised in those days
• provide a quote we can use in our comms
• help us obtain high profile endorsements
• co-write an op-ed
• organise a divestment panel/debate within your organisation/sector
• host a webinar on your area of GDD-related expertise (finance, campaigns, actions, …)
• support groups organising actions on GDD through training or other means
• engage your network of local groups / member organisations / list of subscribers
• inviting them to the webinars we’ll be hosting
• encouraging them to create/join activities
• would your organisation want to divest itself?
• …and more!
