Growing GRASSroots – Towards greener cities in Egypt and Germany

26/05/2015

BUNDjugend Berlin (Young Friends of the Earth Berlin) and the Arab Youth Climate Movement are launching a new youth exchange on green cities, after having been inspired by a successful first exchange last year.

Green areas in cities are often called the “lungs of a city”. Growing GRASSroots: Towards Greener Cities in Egypt and Germany is a youth exchange which will bring together 20 German and 20 Egyptian participants to connect and grow grassroots movements, strengthening the ties between Germany and Egypt. This exciting program offers opportunities to meet in both Berlin and Cairo, to share knowledge, experiences and excitement about environmental issues. There will be a focus on urban gardening as well as other related topics such as: urban development, climate change and participation possibilities.

This collaboration provides German and Egyptian youth with an opportunity to explore each other’s country and culture – as mutual cultural understanding and open-mindedness is the foundation of a successful partnership to push environmental efforts forward.

For more information on this exchange, please see BUNDjugend’s website.

Applications are open!

Deadline for German residents: 8th June 2015, application

Deadline for Egyptian residents: 31st May 2015, application
