In just under one week’s time, Young Friends of the Earth Europe’s summer camp will be starting in Oslo, Norway then heading north to Lofoten in the Arctic circle. We’re really excited about what we’ve got planned for our seven days together in Norway, and want to share it with you all too!

Participants

We’ve scaled up the summer camp this year, and will be joined by a massive 100 people from 27 different countries! Not only will the summer camp bring together activists from 22 of our Young Friends of the Earth and Friends of the Earth groups in Europe, but we’ll also be joined by international representatives from the following organisations:

Oh, yes, and taking place at the same time as our camp will be Young FoE Norway’s annual summer camp, bringing together a further 300 Norwegian activists to the Lofoten islands!

Our programme

The YFoEE 2013 summer camp is this year focusing on the themes of climate justice, resisting dirty energy and the fossil fuel industry, and stopping oil drilling in Lofoten and the Arctic. We’re coming together for a week of learning about these topics, exchanging our knowledge and experiences, and building our skills and plans for taking action together.

You can take a look at our programme for the week here. We’ve also got a really exciting list of nature activities planned, where participants will enjoy the nature and way of life in Lofoten, from whale watching to going on a fishing trip with local fisherfolk.

Following the summer camp from home

We’re going to be busy blogging and sharing news, photos and impressions from the summer camp as it takes place. The best places to follow us will be the YFoEE website, our facebook page, and the YFoE Norway website, where daily news will be published in both English and Norwegian. If you’re coming to the camp we recomend that you get in touch with your national YFoE or FoE group about how you can share daily news from the camp to other young people in your organisation and country. You can also get a draft press release to send to your local media by getting in touch with us.
