Next week, on 12th and 13th March the latest draft of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) will be debated and voted on by our Members of Parliament (MEP’s) in Strasbourg, France.

All around Europe over the past months, farmers, civil society and youth organisations have been busy drawing attention to some of the biggest and most dangerous proposals that have been made for the CAP. They have been encouraging MEPs to vote in favour of amendments that support more equitable and sustainable agriculture, supports small-scale farmers and protects biodiversity.

To add our voice to these demands, the Young Friends of the Earth Europe Food & Agriculture working group has drafted and sent a letter to all MEP’s today (that’s approximately 750 people!) outlining our concerns, and illustrating some of the actions and images collected in the reCAP campaign last autumn.

The vote will be announced next wednesday 13th March. BUNDjugend (Young Friends of the Earth Germany) along with many other international organisations will be there, taking part in a demonstration outside the plenary session. We’ll reporting on their action and the results of the vote on our website and facebook page, so be sure to keep your ears out for this.
