Our inspiring friends at People & Planet in the UK have today launched the ‘Green League 2012‘ – a comprehensive and independent green ranking of all UK universities. It reveals the ‘greenest universities ever’ with a large proportion making significant improvements in environmental performance since previous years.

The Green League rates the environmental and ethical performance of 145 universities in the UK, awarding First Class ‘degrees’ to the greenest and Fail to those doing the least to address their impacts. 46 institutions were ranked as First Class this year, 10 more than last year despite a higher points threshold. The compilation of the Green League helps prospective university students decide what universities to apply for, based on their efforts to be green and sustainable.
